About Tampa

Tampa Overview and History

Tampa is a city on Tampa Bay, along Florida’s Gulf Coast. A major business center, it’s also known for its museums and other cultural offerings. Busch Gardens is an African-themed amusement park with thrill rides and animal-viewing areas. The historic Ybor City neighborhood, developed by Cuban and Spanish cigar factory workers at the turn of the 20th century, is a dining and nightlife destination.

Transportation

Tampa International Airport:
Centrally located, Tampa International Airport is just seven miles west of downtown Tampa. On an average day, the airport is home to more than 100,000 visitors. Tampa International Airport offers 273 daily nonstop scheduled departures to 68 domestic destinations and 42 weekly nonstop scheduled departures to five international markets. The efficient layout of the airport eliminates hassles and delays, ensuring swift and comfortable movement for passengers.

 Public Transportation:

  • Uber/Taxi Ride: $30-50 approximately each direction.
  • Shuttle Ride: $15+ approximately each direction.
  • Ground Transportation

 Trolley/Streetcar:

Operates every 15 minutes (every 12 minutes during peak hours; Friday – Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.)

Streetcar Service Schedule

  • Monday- Thursday: 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
  • Friday: 7:00 AM to 2:00 AM
  • Saturday: 8:30 AM to 2:00 AM
  • Sunday: 8:30 AM to 11:00 PM.

Climate

Tampa’s weather is a combination of bright sunny days tempered by gentle bay breezes. In the fall, the days are pleasantly warm, while the evenings can be a bit cooler. The average annual temperature in Tampa is a comfortable 73 degrees. Loose, lightly colored clothing is recommended for daytime activities; a lightweight jacket or sweater is a good choice for the evening, especially for activities on or near the water. Sunscreen rated SPF 15 or higher is also a must for visitors of all ages.

The UPS store located at the Tampa Convention Center provides business services in-house including high-speed digital copy services, large-format printing, shipping, receiving, fax, and printing services. Comfortable computer workstations are available for email and web. A Graphic Designer’s is on-site to employ at your disposal.
